How to Use Urine Bag
Connect the Urine Bag:Firmly connect the threaded joint of the urine pipe to the urine collection bag to prevent any leakage.
Hanging the Urine Bag:Suspend the urine collection bag below bladder level, using a hanging nylon rope or another holding device for secure positioning.
Open the Urination Switch:Activate the urination switch on the collection bag to allow smooth urine flow into the bag.
Discharge of Urine:When the urine bag is full, wash your hands, clean the mouth of the bag with an alcohol cotton ball, and open it to discharge the urine. Afterward, close and clean the mouth with an alcohol cotton ball to prevent infection.
Precautions for Using Urine Bags
Keep the Urine Bag Below Bladder Level:Always ensure the urine bag is below bladder level to prevent reflux and minimize infection risk.
Increase Water Intake:Drink over 1500ml of water daily to promote urine production, aiding in reducing infection and blockage risks.
Maintain Local Cleanliness:Clean the urethral opening and surrounding areas daily with normal saline and disinfect with iodophor to keep the area clean and dry, inhibiting bacterial growth.
Regularly Change the Urine Bag:Change the urine bag as per its material and doctor's advice to prevent bacterial growth and infection.
Monitor Urine Volume:Empty the urine bag when it exceeds 700ml to prevent discomfort or infection.
Secure the Urine Bag:Properly secure the urine bag to avoid excessive pulling or twisting, which could damage the urethral mucosa.
Observe Body Reactions:
Monitor for symptoms such as urethral pain, cloudy urine, or fever. These may indicate infection, requiring prompt medical attention.
