How to use urine bag
Connect the urine bag: Securely connect the threaded joint of the urine pipe to the urine collection bag, ensuring a tight connection to prevent any leakage.
Hanging urine bag: Suspend the urine collection bag under the bed or at another position below bladder level using a nylon rope or another suitable holding device.
Open the urination switch: Activate the urination switch on the urine collection bag to allow urine to flow smoothly into the urine bag.
Discharge of urine: When the urine bag is full, start by washing your hands. Clean the mouth of the urine bag with an alcohol cotton ball, then open the mouth to discharge urine. After emptying, close the mouth and clean it again with an alcohol cotton ball to prevent infection.
Precautions for bringing urine bags
Keep the urine bag below the bladder level:Ensure the urine bag stays below bladder level to prevent urine reflux and reduce infection risk.
Increase the amount of water you drink:It is advisable to consume more than 1500ml of water daily to promote urine production and discharge, thereby reducing the risk of infection and blockage.
Keep local clean: Daily cleaning with normal saline and disinfection with iodophor will keep the urethral opening and surrounding areas clean and dry, reducing bacterial growth.
Change the urine bag regularly:Follow the doctor's advice and the material specifications to change the urine bag regularly, preventing bacterial growth and infection.
Pay attention to the amount of urine:Empty the urine bag when it exceeds 700ml to avoid discomfort or infection from excessive urine accumulation.
Fixed urine bag:Ensure the urine bag is properly fixed to prevent excessive pulling or twisting, which could damage the urethral mucosa.
Observe the body reaction:Monitor for any adverse body reactions such as pain at the urethral opening, cloudy urine, or systemic fever, which may indicate infection. Seek timely medical treatment if these symptoms occur.
