How to use urine bag
Connect the urine bag:Join the threaded joint of the urine pipe securely to the urine collection bag, ensuring a tight connection to prevent any leakage.
Hanging urine bag:Suspend the urine collection bag below bladder level, either under the bed or in another suitable position, using a hanging nylon rope or an appropriate holding device.
Open the urination switch:Activate the urination switch on the collection bag to allow urine to flow seamlessly into the bag.
Discharge of urine:When the urine bag is full, first wash your hands thoroughly. Clean the mouth of the bag with an alcohol cotton ball, then open the mouth to discharge the urine. After emptying, close the mouth and clean it again with an alcohol cotton ball to prevent infection.
Precautions for bringing urine bags
Keep the urine bag below bladder level:Always position the urine bag below bladder level to prevent urine backflow and reduce the risk of infection.
Increase water intake:It is advised to consume over 1500ml of water daily to promote urine production and discharge, aiding in reducing the risk of infections and blockages.
Maintain cleanliness:Daily cleaning of the urethral opening and surrounding areas with normal saline and disinfection with iodophor is recommended to maintain hygiene and minimize bacterial growth.
Regularly change the urine bag:Replace the urine bag regularly as per material specifications and doctor's advice to prevent bacterial growth and infection.
Monitor urine volume:If the urine volume in the bag exceeds 700ml, it should be emptied promptly to avoid discomfort or infection.
Secure the urine bag:Ensure that the urine bag is securely fixed to prevent undue pulling or twisting, which could damage the urethral mucosa.
Monitor body reactions:Be vigilant for any adverse body reactions, such as pain at the urethral opening, cloudy urine, or systemic fever, as these may indicate an infection and necessitate timely medical intervention.
